The East End of Glasgow might not be known for its culture, sophistication and class but the locals do know about good food and value for money. Last night I put my bet on a new and very chic eatery, which is sure to be a massive hit with East Enders and anyone else who cares to take a trip down Shettleston Road!
You will love it!
On a very cold (-4) evening I decided to stay in the East End. My usual go to in this part of town is The Kirkhouse but after two years of struggle and Red Tape Gia’s has opened on Shettleston Road and we decided to give it a go.
It has a very cosmopolitan feel and you’d never guess you were in Glasgow never mind the seemingly ‘impoverished’ side of the city. Shettleston gets a lot of bad press but I have nothing but good to say about the people, the area and Gia’s can only add to what is a, genuinely, Salty Earthed part of this fabulous City.
I’m always attracted to a dish with Italian Sausage and Gia’s uses my very favourite from Pietro’s on Tollcross Road. They have a Gluten Free Pasta option for an extra £1 and I opted for this. If they can make this taste good, and serve it al dente, then they pass my test with Italian colours.
It was perfection, as was the lasagne The Mary had. I was too full ot have a sweet but this will be the perfect place for me to pop along for coffee and cake. I wish Teresa and all the staff the very best and can’t wait to see the success Gia’s is sure to have in the East End.
Service was quick, efficient and Juan and Chris were professional and friendly in just the right measure. Even my trip to the toilet was a delight and it felt like 5 star treatment all the way.
See you next time!
Here’s what others had to say!
I highly recommend this place!
